We want you to take part in WCCB News Rising this morning by participating in #CrowdSourced. Heres todays topic. The Washington Post reports police investigated a Maryland couple for allowing their 10 year old and 6 year old to walk home alone. Officers spotted the children walking, took them home, and talk with the parents about potential dangers. The parents werent concerned because they believe in free range parenting and felt the children were ready to walk on their own. Child Protective Services followed up with the parents forcing them to sign paperwork promising that their kids would not go unsupervised in the future. The parents say this flies in the face of their beliefs about teaching kids to be self-reliant. Were police right to intervene with this situation? Whats the right age to let kids go off on their own? Are todays parents too over-protective and as a byproduct making children scared of their surroundings? Sharing your comments at 7:30 on Rising!
