We went off to Europe in April this year and thought the Sleepyspotsmight like to read of the adventures (if admin dont approve of my posts please message me and I wont add any more)so here goes ..first post TRAVELS WITH HETTY Me,Him and Hetty Hymer are mentally ready for the road but things beyond our control are in the way ..like filling in driving license renewal form incorrectly and our son becoming a father ..we are now 3 months late ..ahhhhhhgh !!!!!! And …..the price of the ferry to Spain is rising daily.. So ..I will tell you of the journey planned.. After ignoring Europe except for a quick trip to Paris… one to Amsterdam, a few to Gozo in the Maltese Islands and a plenty of cross channel yachting forays to Brittany back in the days of southern living…choosing to take long haul flight amd roughing it around the world with a backpack and a lot of courage …I suddenly realised age was creeping up very fast..and I hadnt been to Venice . This realisation set the thought process going… Fly out for my birthday in May or retire and take the long way round in our aging Hymer motor home….. Ferry booked for 5th April as driving license arrived by first post..We have decided on the economy sailing ..We have been on the bigger more sophisticated Cruise to Santander 10 years ago ..and enjoyed all the the facilities . This time we don’t need all the fuss of 5★ resturants and cabaret in the bars..savings of £100 will go to the fuel to drive to Portsmouth… Overview of Brittany Ferries économie No-frills Brittany Ferries économie offers simple yet comfortable service Self-service restaurant with limited choice Small bar, movie lounge and seating area No play area or entertainment for children En-suite cabins but without carpets Small boutique The fare one way is £320 I think the sailing times suit is better… Embarkation is 7am sailing at 8-15 ..Arriving the next day at midday ..giving us chance to head off south towards Burgos and find our first wild camping / overnight parking of the adventure The first leg planned is Burgos area, Avila , Seville Ronda ,Granada to Terual avoiding the Costas …inland suits is better ..more to see First Sleepyspot was in the waiting area for the ferry in Portmouth and an alarm call from the loading staff (a bang on the side of Hetty ) NEXT POST HIDDEN SPAIN
