We went to see Edge Of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt - TopicsExpress

We went to see Edge Of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt last night. The director Doug Limon said he hadnt realised what a fine comedy actor Tom Cruise was and after seeing it I havent worked out what he meant. It was the most turgid, soggy small story obliterated by a lot of noise and special effects. If you want mind blowing cgi see Transformers for details and a sharp script hire Woody Allen. Doug Limon junked the script (directors hate screenwriters anyway unless they were the screenwriter themselves. I know I do) and boy does it show. There was a very strange D Day theme - was that intentional to tie in with the anniversary? And why choose the pyramid in the Louvre as the location for the Omega brain of the evil alien force? I always get the feeling with Tom Cruise movies that he is trying to reprogramme our sensibilities based on some Scientology script. The Louvre glass pyramid is where the Holy Grail is supposed to be hidden according to Dan Brown (it isnt, its in a temple in Ethiopia). Jeez what a waste of the admission fee.
