We were nine miles off shore; whereas, If our ship was attacked and exploded we were far enough out not to cause damage on land. We were sitting on top of 50,000 tons of ammunition in the Persian Gulf, well protected thankfully to 5 Marine missile stinger teams plus naval air and sea patrols, waiting for possible attack. One finds themselves in a very special spiritual relationship with one’s crew and support teams “It‘s the real deal“. so tangible you could cut it with a knife. One day an Admiral visited our ship with a big bag of mail from children…Most from children who were just learning to write, many with slanted and mal formed letters…Children have no guile or deceit…Every letter called us Heroes. .It had a deep impact on me as well as others. When I returned with T shirt.. Saddam Husain’s Mid East Invasion tour Cancelled,.. I realized that my work needed to be done in service to others.. I was a hero. This is within us all but it is much more acute in a Veteran.. It has even caused many problems for Vets who tragically don’t understand the true meaning of the experience…. I honor the children by making them balloon animals, My screenplay project intending to entertain a viewing audience, and my latest boat design project in an earlier timeline to help elevate others.. That’s what heroes do. I just work hard turning over the results to God.. “That’s why I look young in preceding picture …I am”… (LOL) I have a wonderful life. ..
