We were offered a 4-course meal with three units of wine/beer/mineral water per person through an email ‘Let’s Deal’ campaign, and took the bait. At half the posted fare, it was easily one of the best restaurant deals on paper we’d ever seen in downtown Oslo. As it turned out, it was damn near perfect in execution as well. Fresh bread and a red pesto-like dip arrived presently, followed by salmon and asparagus, scampi and scallops, the house pepper steak, and a superb warm chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream. Two happy waiters swarmed around us and the other 20+ guests (early Saturday night), and the chef made occasional visits to test the mood, no doubt. A crew of Latin origin (Colombia, 2 x Cuba, Dominica) spoke about as much Norwegian as our Spanish, and we got along fine. The limited choice of coffe varieties (presscan, or none) was no problem, as it was great. They change the menu around every so often, and seem wont to serve anything but the daily fare, although there is an a la carte menu.
