We were out running errands in the beastly heat, were on the way - TopicsExpress

We were out running errands in the beastly heat, were on the way back to the house, and stopped to get gas. It was at a station that has those little TV sets above the pumps, where brief news snippets and lots of ads are run. David was pumping gas and an ad came on for a new Criterion Collection for Philip Seymour Hoffmans collected works. The man pumping gas on the other side of the island looked at David and said, I dont think hes done anything recently, has he? To which David replied, Well, that would be hard. Hes dead. To which the man responded with something to the effect of, Aw, man, they got him too! And went off on the beginnings of a conspiracy theory tirade. David at some point interjected and, in a very David kind of way, said, No, I think it was an old fashioned overdose. At which point the man and David locked eyes and burst into a lovely song and dance version of An Old Fashioned Love Song, substituting oerdose for love song and changing many other words to fit. I was fascinated. Amused. And rather annoyed because it was hot, late, and I just wanted to be home. This was, of course, a dream. When I recounted it to David this morning he agreed that it sounded like a conversation hed be involved in. Im annoyed because now I have the song stuck in my head. So heres my favorite version of it, sung by Paul Williams, on The Muppet Show: https://youtube/watch?v=6Qjtj9lliXU And Happy Monday mornings, my friends!
