When Jesus healed the lame man in John 5:1-14 He followed the miracle with a serious warning. Verse 14 reads: But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, "Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you." From the same fountain of love and compassion flew healing and miracles of many kind AND this rebuke. Not from an authoritarian, dictator-like, patriarch, but from the fountain of LOVE. Too many like to see miracles and experience physical healing, but despise healing of the soul, rejecting it as coming from a different, angry, resentful God. 1 John 4:8 ...for God IS love.
