We were travelling home from Victoria Park earlier, and a we seen a wee dog get run over at the junction with Summerhill ave. I let a big scream out and stopped the car and Dave jumped out and lifted it up as other cars were just driving by it. The lady who ran it over was awfully upset and we tried to get hold of its owner as its number was on its wee tag, but no answer. Another couple pulled in and offered to take it to Earlswood. The lady who knocked it over was taking her son to the airport and gave us her details so she could pay any bill, she was so so upset. We tried and tried to call the owner but still no answer. Just got a call from a man in Africa stating that he was the dogs owner and that it had to get put down, his wife was distraught and couldnt speak to anyone and that he felt so helpless being away from his family!! Poor wee thing escaped from its garden and was trying to get to Stormont park. I know non dog lovers wont really understand but they really are just like hairy children!! Poor wee mite, guess who is getting extra kisses and hugs tonight!!
