We will scale to your level of fitness...not your gender. Although, if youve been doing push-ups on your knees for a year maybe its time to stop that, no?!? CrossFit does not publish female workout prescriptions. Some misinterpret this as a sign that CrossFit ignores women. In reality, CrossFit women can frequently handle the same prescription better than men – so there is no assumed need for a women’s prescription. Of all the factors that impact fitness, training history, nutrition, mental outlook, age, etc., gender is one of many, and not predominant. Effective scaling needs to address actual fitness level, not distant correlates of fitness, such as gender. Even at the highest levels of CrossFit Games competition, women frequently beat men at the same workouts. At Sunday’s CrossFit Invitational, Camille snatched 195 pounds. Let’s compare that to what the world’s fittest men snatched just 5 years ago. In the 2009 CrossFit Games, Camille’s snatch would have landed her in 10th, out of 16, ahead of that year’s champion, Mikko Salo. - Russ Greene
