We would like to congratulate our friend and Official Good Luck Charm, Ray Lampe aka Dr. BBQ, on being selected for induction in the 2014 Class of the Barbecue Hall of Fame! We first met Ray at our second ever KCBS contest in Clovis, CA in the fall of 2007. We saw him walking through the contest venue on Friday evening and asked him if he would mind posing for a picture. Ever the ambassador, he agreed with his trademark smile and good humor. All we had handy was very low resolution camera phone but that black and white image is one of our favorites. Little did we know that Ray was destined to become our Official Good Luck Charm. You see, it just turned out that Ray was the Master of Ceremonies at the contests where we won our first Reserve Grand Championship, which happened to be the very next day at that event in Clovis, and again in Modesto, CA in 2008 when we won our first Grand Championship! Needless to say, we like it when Ray is working at an event where were cooking! Ray, you made the decision to become a full time barbeque man all those years ago and youve made a huge impact on the barbeque world that cannot be measured. Youre contribution to the growth of barbeque worldwide is your legacy and were honored to call you our friend! Thank you for all youve done!
