We would like to convey the good news we have received this morning, the most recent update on the release papers of OFW on Saudi death row Rodelio ‘Dondon’ Lanuza. The Saudi Reconciliation Committee (SRC), conveyed to us that the heir of the Saudi family had finally signed the Tanazul or Affidavit of Forgiveness in favor of Lanuza. The same information was conveyed and confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Executive Director Reynaldo Catapang, who called the Lanuza family and Monterona earlier today. This means that anytime from today, the Tanazul will be sent to the Emir’s (governor) office. Then, we hope that the Emir’s office will immediately endorse Lanuza’s complete case file including the completed Tanazul to the Ministry of Interior for the issuance of the required clearance. Upon receipt of the clearance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Emir’s office will issue a corresponding order to the Dammam Jail authorities to process Lanuza’s deportation. The Lanuza family and his relatives, supporters, and fellow OFWs, are hoping that Dondon will be released after Ramadan or on or during Eid al Fitr.
