We would like to introduce you to Raven.... Raven was an owner - TopicsExpress

We would like to introduce you to Raven.... Raven was an owner surrender to the rescue due to family time... :-( Raven had only 1 owner all her life since 16 weeks old and is now 4 years old.... Raven spent hours on end at home by herself as her Mom worked a full time job 6 almost 7 days a week... Raven spent most of her days eating and sleeping, lounging on the couch, or sitting at the door patiently awaiting her momma.... Ravens Mom felt this was no life for her and wanted her to have a wonderful family that could spend time with her regularly..... Upon arrival at the rescue it was noted that Raven was obese... :-( She was massively overweight for her age and height.... She even has a fatty mass on her side... Per our vets suggestion and request, Raven was immediately put on a diet of 1 cup of dry dog food and 1 1/2 cups of green beans twice a day.... Sadly Raven wouldnt be available for adoption for some time, as she must lose some weight before she can be spayed.... Aside from being over weight she is in wonderful health, doesnt appear to have issues with her hips as one would think.... We did wonder if she had a kidney or bladder infection as she would urinate often... Not huge amounts, more regular urine just frequently.... No infection was found though, it was suggested that it could be possible that her weight was putting pressure on her bladder causing her to urinate often.... :-( As most of you know, we are the only no kill animal rescue that takes in all animals in Fountain/Warren County and most of the time it is imperative that we find homes for our babies as soon as we can.... In Ravens case, she was going to be hanging out for sometime with nothing holding her back from a forever home but weight lose... So we reached out for help.... And we MUST Thank Dawn Contos from Indianapolis Animal Care & Control from putting us in Touch with Mended Hearts Animal Rescue who accepted Raven into their foster program until such a time, she is at a safe and healthy weight that she can be spayed and placed up for adoption.... A wonderful job well done... We thank Mended Hearts and IACC for working with us to help our fur babies and future fur babies.... Good luck in the near Future Ravine, we cant wait to hear your success story and see updated pictures!!
