Weariness -- Life -- and Just Skimming the Surface, Part II We - TopicsExpress

Weariness -- Life -- and Just Skimming the Surface, Part II We have become a society that runs with the throttle wide open, feeling that if we slow down we will miss something or be left behind. And like the wind-up toy we go full speed ahead and usually, at some point, crash and our life seems upside down. Christians are not exempt from this "rush on life," but I do not think that is what scripture teaches us. Yes, there are seasons and times where circumstances challenge our ability to keep up, but to choose to run wide open everyday is not the normal response to enjoying life. Soon, like the gas in our cars, our energy supply runs out and we, as they say are running on vapors, gasping for that last little bit of energy till we finally come to a stop........ So where does this lesson on becoming weary come from? Last Sunday I was asked " how are you?" and out of my mouth came "weary." Sort of surprised me that that is the word I said. But it is exactly true, I have become weary. I have been running full speed ahead trying to focus on so many things that I have missed the low on fuel, low battery, and high rpms warning lights. It is so easy to get pulled away from our daily relationship with God and focus instead on the world around us. Sometime we ignore the "rest stops" and try to continue on in our own power. You are right, if you are thinking, life is a daily battle. But, even in those battles there are places of peace and rest. So how do we take care of this weariness? I will share with you the verses that I am studying in Part III, "Just Skimming the Surface." Please share with your friends it is going to be a good lesson. To help get you started, finish this sentence. When life seems shallow.............................................. .
