Weather Bulletin Number Four Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm “#NandoPH” (KONG-REY) (1315) Issued at 5:00 PM, 26 August 2013 (Valid for broadcast until the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today) “NANDO” has maintained into a Tropical Storm as it continues to move in a Northwest direction. Location of eye/center: At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm “NANDO” was estimated based on all available data at 270 km East of Baler, Aurora (16.8°N, 125.0°E). Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80kph. Movement: Forecast to move Northwest at 15 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “NANDO” is expected to be at 160 km Southeast of Basco, Batanes tomorrow afternoon and at 160 km North of Basco, Batanes by Wednesday afternoon. By Thursday afternoon, it is expected to be at 420 km North of Basco, Batanes or at 20 km East of Northern Taiwan. • PSWS # 1(Winds of 45-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours): Batanes Group of Islands and Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao and Isabela. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 – 20 mm per hour (heavy-intense) within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. • “NANDO” is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring light to occasionally heavy rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Southern Luzon. • Sea travel is risky over the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon. • The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 PM today.
