Weather Forecast for KENT – FRIDAY 19th December 14. SYNOPSIS: A cold front will move in from the north west this morning – hence the change from this current wet n windy stuff to clearer skies during the day. TODAY . . . This rubbish wet n windy stuff we are currently experiencing at dawnbreak will give way to clearing skies as we wear onto the latter half of this morning. That will then lead to sunshine and only broken cloud by the afternoon. In other words, a getting better kind of day, especially as the fresh south west wind veer into as a westerly and fall lighter. After this mild start at 12 C (54 F), it is going to slowly become cooler during the course of the day with 6 C to 8 C (43 F to 46 F) by dusk time. Today will bear all the hallmarks of a passing “clearance”-type cold front. TONIGHT . . . Starting off clear, but then cloud are expected to increase in from the west as we go deeper into the night along with a moderate to fresh westerly breeze. However, it will stay dry and while itll feel quite chilly, a frost seems unlikely as temperatures are prevented from falling any lower than 5 C (41 F) tonight. WEEKEND . . . Not really that bad at all with varied cloud amounts and bright spells. It does look like Saturday will be the better day in terms of sunshine while Sunday may tend to be cloudier. But it is expected to stay dry throughout with temperatures sticking close to average values. I dont think we are going to get that much in the way of frost by night the way I see it. NEXT WEEK . . . Not a lot to get excited or worried about with varied cloud amounts and bright spells – although I think therell may tend to be more in the way of cloud than there are sunshine. However, it will tend to be on the breezy side with fresh to strong westerly-type winds. Rainfall amounts are expected to be on the frugal side so at least it seems we havent got to be worrying about flooding on this side of Christmas. Christmas Day and into Boxing Day looks like being quiet and settled with some bright spells and varied cloud cover. However, there is a risk of fog as winds falls light. AND BEYOND . . . Im going to go for broke and say that I really am struggling with us getting to have any real winter-type weather with the maritime-type theme (our weather always coming in from the Atlantic) continuing through that “No Mans Land” bit between Christmas and New Years Day. We may have to wait until early or mid-January before Ill start thinking about us getting the white stuff the way things are going (why are we so obsessed with it, anyway?).
