Weather Forecast for KENT – MONDAY 26th January 15. SYNOPSIS: Once a weakening frontal system pass over us and move onto the near Continent this morning, a ridge of high pressure then build in from the west afterwards. TODAY . . . It will be rather overcast with patchy light rain for the rest of this morning, thus making for a dull and damp start to the day. However, the cloud may start to thin out as we wear onto the afternoon as well as becoming dry. With that to mind, hopefully most of us will at least get to experience some brightness before sunset time. Despite the moderate north west breeze, it will be quite mild with temperatures peaking at 8 C to 10 C (46 F to 50 F) at around noon time. In other words, a slowly getting better type of day where the housekeepers with broken tumble driers may be able to hang the line washing outdoors in the afternoon. TONIGHT . . . It is going to be a dry and uneventful night with partial cloud cover and clear breaks. Even though our wind will still be coming in from the north west, the breezy nature of it as well as there being a fair amount of cloud about may keep temperatures hovering around 3 C to 5 C (37 F to 41 F). Thus a frost seems quite unlikely tonight, save for perhaps the usual favoured low-lying sheltered areas by dawnbreak. TOMORROW (Tuesday) . . . Quite cloudy with some bright intervals and it will be staying dry. Just a shade cooler and fresher at 7 C to 8 C (45 F to 46 F) under a moderate westerly breeze. OUTLOOK . . . On Wednesday, an active cold front will be sweeping in from the north west to make it rather wet and windy for us in the morning. Some of that rain could turn into as sleet or snow for a time, especially over high ground, we go into the afternoon before skies become clear again by the end of the day. In other words, Wednesday does look like being the less appealing day of the week thus making for a rubbish hump day. Then rather cold with bright spells and wintry showers on Thursday and into Friday. There is a risk of a snow flurry or two as “trough”-like features (bands of organised precipitation) passes over us – but those localised features are hard to pin down forecast-wise. The fresh north westerly wind will make for some notable wind chill. Frost and ice can be expected by night time. It does look like becoming mostly dry with sunny spells as well as winds becoming lighter come the weekend, but itll be staying quite cold with frost and ice continuing to be regular features.
