Weather Forecast for KENT – WEDNESDAY 3rd December 14. SYNOPSIS: High pressure off to the west of the UK is enabling our wind to come in from the north east, in from the North Sea. It also has a weak weather front tangled up in it hence the continued cloudy damp conditions here at Kent. TODAY . . . The rest of this morning will go along on an overcast and murky note with outbreaks of rain, thus making for a bleak and damp start to the day. However, the rain is expected to peter out by around midday and hopefully, with a bit of luck, the cloud may try and thin out just enough to enable some brightness to show through as we wear onto the first half of the afternoon. Temperatures sticking close to average values at 7 C to 9 C (45 F to 48 F) but the brisk north easterly breeze will provide a chill factor, especially over north and east-facing coastal and hilly areas (eg, Thanet). Another “big coat” type of day. TONIGHT . . . Mostly cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle, thus making for a damp night across Kent. Although temperatures will creep down to as low as 4 C (39 F) as our wind takes on a slightly continental flavour by slowly veering into as an easterly, the general cloud cover and the brisk wind will prevent any ice or frost from taking a hold anyway. However, it is going to be feeling quite cold compared to recent nights in any case so you may want to have the hot water to hand tonight. TOMORROW (Thursday) . . . Cloudy and feeling rather cold with temperatures struggling to get up to 5 C, but at least winds will be lighter. FRIDAY . . . Little change expected, however, it is that overcast stuff that will prevent a frost from taking a hold in the night despite the chilly feel. WEEKEND . . . On Saturday, hopefully a cold front moving in from the north west should have the effect of mixing the air up a bit and thus allow the sun to finally break through. However, it will continue to feel cold with a risk of frost by night. Becoming cloudy again with some rain on Sunday as another weather front start to push in from the Atlantic, but it may clear away in the afternoon to allow some last minute brightness. Becoming less cold at this point. NEXT WEEK . . . Looks like seeing the return of the old school “westerlies” with changeable weather (alternating spells of rain and sunny spells/showers) coming in from the Atlantic. It will also be windy from time to time with temperatures recovering to average values. As you can see, a rather mixed outlook after that meh start – the only thing missing is snow!
