Weather Outlook for Dominica and the Lesser Antilles Issued: 12:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2013 A ridge of high pressure is the dominant feature across the region. A layer of Saharan dust will continue to maintain a relatively dry and stable atmosphere favoring mostly fair and hazy conditions this afternoon. However, by later tonight, occasional cloudiness and scattered showers are likely with low level clouds moving with the wind flow. The layer of Saharan dust moving across the area will result in a reduction in visibility. Additionally, persons with respiratory concerns should exercise caution. Meanwhile, a westward moving tropical wave is located in the Central Tropical Atlantic. This feature is expected to approach the area on Tuesday. Moderate sea conditions are expected during the next 12 to 24 hours with swells peaking near 7.0 feet. Thereafter, a gradual reduction to 5.0 feet is anticipated.
