Weather Update (BTR): A rainy, windy, and stormy afternoon and early evening is expected. There is not expected to be any breaks in the rainfall once it begins in the Baton Rouge Metro around 2 pm today. The rain threat will last until about 10 pm tonight based upon the latest run of the HRRR forecat model. There have been several tornado warnings issued during the past few hours over portions of Southwest and East Central Louisiana west of Baton Rouge. The severe threat is expected to shift to our area beginning around 2 pm and last into the early evening hours tonight. The main threats wil be damaging straight line winds, dangerous lightning, locally heavy rainfall, and an isolated tornado. General rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible through tonight with some amounts of up to 4 inches associated with stronger storms. The cold front that is producing this stormy weather is forecast to move through the Baton Rouge Metro between midnight and 3 am Friday morning. All precipitation will end with the frontal passage.
