** Weavers Wisdom ~ Ancient Precepts for a Perfect Life ~ ** Spiders are Weavers and The Village Lady is a Fibre Fiend that has had strong connections to Indian textiles and culture since the age of about 17. The word Weaver grabbed me and the Indian connection. The book has a sticker (pic below, circle left side) that reads Indias Fortune Cookies for the Soul. This is a translated Southern Indian classic masterpiece called, the Tirukural. It focuses on a South Indian sage, Tiruvalluvar, who tells us of friends and foes, family, God, business. law, spies. love, hate, and all that is human. Some in the Cupboard may already be aware of this gem. This is what Mahatma Gandhi had to say about the words within - Only a few of us know the name of Tiruvalluvar. The North Indians do not know the same of the great saint. There is non who has given such a treasure of wisdom like him Words from Dr. Albert Schweitzer - There hardly exists in the literature of the world a collection of maxims in which we find such lofty wisdom. It is published by the Himalayan Academy and here is what they have to say : Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, a living legend, yoga master and author of Merging with Siva, recognized the immense value of the Tirukural in 1949 as a young seeker in Sri Lanka. Decades later, he instructed two of his swamis to translate it from classical Tamil into American English, and had an renowned artist in South India illustrate the 108 chapters. Here is the fruit of those efforts, the gentle, profound world of Asian ethics and simple humanness. Yet, Weavers Wisdoms universality makes it a book you can share with anyone. It contains fortune cookies you can snack on before sleep or at anytime. Its charming wit and common sense will uplift and inspire you and your whole family. The the entire book is in the comments, to flip page by page. It is nice that is available this way, pictures and all. It can be downloaded through pdf when googled :). I stumbled upon this gem in a Thrift Store this morning. There is something about the paper in my hands. I have this thing about having a book in my hand while creekside, riverside or lakeside. Old fashioned, I know... :)
