Wedding Music... For Jeanie and I. Its maybe more complicated if a Piper is getting married. The Tune Selection is slightly beyond the usual, and most commonly played repertoire for such occasions. We dont have everything figured out, including guest lists, but certainly Pipers, Drummers, Dancers and the like, will all be welcome. Any Pipers that can play the Tunes, and Tune together reasonably will be welcome to play. While some of the Tunes are slightly beyond grasp, or may require some homework, they are not quite as big as some Meaty Marches that many already play. The Tunes we like, are not anything I wouldnt, or havent seen my student Clint McKenzie demonstrate quite well on Practice Chanter, and on Pipes reasonably well with a wee bit of memorizing and doing to iron things out, and nail it. {Maybe I can nudge, or drag Clint out of Hiatus.. hint, hint.. and maybe out of deep hiatus Galen Wallace} For Jeanie going down the Aisle, it might be she moved through the Fair OR a fun and happy wee number... Kelseys Wee Reel. The Wee Reel might be for the Recessional. For myself, Ladies From Hell . youtube/watch?v=_ThcnjfLRug&list=FLf9CD-644cn38XFGs7gxR0w&index=9 Resplendent with auld timey High A crow / Vibrato. A wonderful 2/4 March. 2 parts is plenty, but all 3 work too. Its an outstanding example of the 2/4 March Idiom, and one of my favorites. As there are only 3 parts... it will never be overplayed, and it will also not be played for the purpose of putting a Judge to sleep. Other Tunes during the ceremony might include Le Boom Ecosse , Hey Jude + a couple parts of the Masons Apron.. maybe with the hand strum and maybe, the hand strum on the piper standing next to you parlor trick. During the reception and whatnot, Jeanie will likely want to hear Pumpkins Fancy at a modest tempo that highlights the bending & vibrato nonsense. (but not on a Murray Huggins Chanter, as those come pre-equipped with favorite Tunes.. and Pumpkin Thing is the opposite of one of those). The Inebriated Conception set might not be too out of sorts.. (Clumsey Lover Jig, The Duck, and Rocking the Baby... and maybe the Glasgow Police get involved in there someplace). Dont Stop Rocking would be nice, and the Pipers Hut should be Burnt proper like, without water. I have no plan whatsoever of playing my Pipes on the day. But maybe, I will play a few Tunes at the reception. The 3/4 size McLellan Wee Pipes, and favorite solo chanter will be available for Solos. And perhaps the Garvies parlor/session Pipes as well. I might have a slightly modified Best Man type position, Best Piper. Who would co-ordinate and herd any other Pipers who might be there. . youtube/watch?v=Tw8q6AubKn4
