Wednesday 10/22/2014 - 1 pm: An area of low pressure now located to the southeast of New England will eventually bring rain, heavy at times, to northern Maine in two rounds: One round for this evening and a second round from Thursday afternoon through all of Friday. Partly sunny skies are currently occurring across central and northern parts of Aroostook County with cloudy skies occurring across southern parts of the County. Skies are expected to become cloudy across all of northern Maine by later this afternoon with rain developing from south to north across northern Maine this evening, first across southern Aroostook County between 6 and 8 pm and spreading across central and northern Aroostook County between 9 pm and midnight. This rain, which may be heavy at times, will last for several hours during the overnight hours of tonight before ending early Thursday morning. Additional rain, which will be heavy at times, will spread across northern Maine during Thursday afternoon and will last through all of Thursday night and Friday before it tapers off to scattered showers for Saturday. Total rainfall amounts between these two rounds of rainfall will average between 1 and 2 inches with up to 3 inches possible across parts of southern Aroostook County. In addition to the rain, it will be raw and windy on Thursday and Friday with temperatures in the upper 40s and northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph.
