Wednesday 19th June Koala Room Update: Today within the Koala - TopicsExpress

Wednesday 19th June Koala Room Update: Today within the Koala room we celebrated Christmas in June. The Koalas enjoyed looking at the tinsel sparkle as we hung it over the door to the cubby house, and when we took it down the Koalas felt the tinsel between their hands and even wore it as fancy dress. To introduce thinking and cognitive skills into the Koala room we added simple one pieced puzzles. The Koalas chose to take up the challenge and pieced the puzzled together quite easily pictured to the right is Eli fitting together his numbered puzzle. Possum Room Update: Today in the Possum room, the children enjoyed some indoor activities – Leila, Darcey and Myles had fun playing with the play dough that Lucy made fresh this morning. Ally helped them make all kinds of different shapes with the animal cutters. Katie, Shakyia, Emma, Murphy and Sallie were all giggles and smiles as Chonny played dress-ups with them. Long fairy dresses and stylish hats were a favourite with the children; promoting social play and interaction with each other. Hudson P and Micah were very clever this morning as they balanced bean-bags on different parts of their body; on their heads, hands, tummy and feet. Bilby Room Update: What an artful day the little Bilby’s have had, we have all helped paint a blank sheet of material using rollers and stamps with the colours red, yellow, blue, pink, green and blue, the children even decided to paint their hands and print them all over! We also had water colour paint in spray bottles for the children to spray all over their page, some children found this difficult and needed some assistance while others held the bottle with two hands and squeezing tight. Platypus Room Update: Today the children were inspired by a bit of magic! After reading ‘The Magic Hat’ (a story by Mem Fox) the children made some of their own magic! Nathaniel and Olivia Maggs (pictured below) used their magic to draw a picture with white crayon and then as they painted over it with water colours the picture would appear! Thank you to Hamish who brought in a lovely photo of him and Santa to show the class! Kangaroo Room Update: The Kangaroo children have been working really hard to develop their fine motor skills since the beginning of the year. Today the children were provided with the opportunity to write, colour, cut and paste. Jenna encouraged the children to write their names (which we are all getting so good at doing) and then practice writing the number 9, which is our number of focus at present. The children coloured in their pictures and then carefully cut them out before pasting them into their little paper books. Matilda and Isabelle worked particularly hard on this experience and were very proud of their individual achievements. Emu Room Update: Library Visit Today! We walked together to the library and listened and looked at lots of stories. The SCAS library has areas to sit or relax and read. The children could choose from the books on the shelf and read with their friends and teachers. When we returned to the Cottage our TAFE student Carly has been extending our interest in space travel by making space helmets using paper mache. Today we started to paint and decorate the helmets!
