Wednesday 2nd July, after 2 date changes eventually allowed the testers out for round 2 of the Ernie Magwood Super 6 at Woodgreen. After beautiful weather the previous 2 days, Wednesday wasnt the PB weather that many hoped for, and was in fact one of the slowest I have seen for a long time. with a nasty crosswind from the right on the outward leg and it again catching riders on the left coming back. Many reported that they had to sit up, as they had stability issues, and bikes proving to be quite a handful on the 40mph swoop to the line. Fastest on the night making it 2 from 2, was John Madden of Dig Deep Inspired Cycling, fresh from beating trains, setting place to place records, and probably arm wrestling Gorillas as a hobby, nobody had an answer to John, although Sean McIntyre of Shelbourne ran him very close, just 7 seconds back, with Daniel Stewart just pipping defending champ John Heverin for 3rd by 1 second, and Ivan Robinson on his fantastic new Canyon Speedmax back on top of his game in 5th. Throughout the field there were lots of other tight battles, riders covered by a handful of seconds Fastest lady was Eileen Burns, With the whole Burns Family out to race, while as usual Darrell was fastest Hand Cyclist, but newcomer Bryan Philips giving him one hell of a race just 4 seconds down. Thank you everyone for your patience on the night and in the delay on this report. All riders are reminded that all time trial rules must be followed at all times. No pace setting, No riding on the white line, No warming up by passing the time keeper. If you have had any technical issues do not cross the finish as this causes confusion for the time keeper. If you are a DNF, do not assume the timekeeper will know this, make it clear to the officials so they dont send out a search party. Finally The course goes all the way TOWARDS and AROUND the Antrim roundabout, cutting any part of the course out is both very dangerous and puts riders and road users in danger. We hope that nobody breaks any of these rules as it puts us in a difficult position. We run a very relaxed and friendly league which is self policing, the riders and officials know what happens out on the course, we dont have the manpower to track with GPS everyone so it is up to the individuals common sense and moral compass. Dont let yourselves or us down.
