Barrie McKay and Chris Hegarty are both in a 20-man squad for the friendly at Dens Park after hernia and foot problems respectively. Young winger Tom Walsh has also been included in the pool having made a good impression in training this week. On top of that, Andy Mitchell is fit again following an ankle injury sustained during the northern tour earlier this month. David Templeton is in the group three days after scoring as he came back from a period on the sidelines in the 4-0 Ramsdens Cup victory against Albion Rovers in Livingston. Each of the eight players who have agreed to join Gers and signed pre-contracts are also travelling up the A9 this morning. As things stand, however, manager Ally McCoist has not included trialists Mamady Sidibe and Hameur Bouazza in his party. Tonight’s fixture is being staged as part of the Dees’ 120th anniversary celebrations in a re-run of their first ever league fixture back in 1893 at their old West Craigie Park ground. It pits McCoist in against his old Ibrox team-mate John Brown, who took charge of Dundee earlier this year. Brown was vocal with his concerns about Rangers last year following its move into a new company and the manager doesn’t blame his friend for standing up for his beliefs. McCoist said: “I’m looking forward to coming up against John and his team had a good result at the weekend as it beat Alloa away from home. “As you’d imagine, him and I speak on a regular basis about football and he’s fairly happy with his team. “He wants to get them back up to the top flight next season and this is a good game for us to be taking on as it’s a step up in class from what we’ve played domestically. “Bomber is obviously the Dundee manager and that’s his job now so that’s where his priorities lie. “But he clearly has a soft spot for Rangers and there’s absolutely no doubt what he said last year was for the club’s benefit. “A lot of people will probably look back and say he maybe wasn’t too far away with some of his assumptions but that’s for another day. “I’ve grown up with John and we’ve played against each other since we were wee boys so I know how committed a person he is and that applies very much to Dundee now. “This game gives us an opportunity to play a few of the lads we weren’t able to use at the weekend and it’ll be a worthwhile exercise on a special night for his club.” SQUAD v DUNDEE: Bell, Gallacher, Hegarty, Faure, S Smith, Foster, Gasparotto, Mohsni, McAusland, Mitchell, McKay, Templeton, Crawford, Aird, Law, Little, Clark, Daly, Peralta, Walsh. watp....shiz
