Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Topic: The Dove Returns. “Updated from Tuesday” This is meat for the mature in Christ.) Matthew 8:20. Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head. The Son of Man has no place to lay his head. When reading Genesis 8, I visualized Noah inside the Ark. Noah sits perched at the One window looking into the blue rainless clouds; “Praying.” He waited with expectancy. As he watched he sees what he’s been waiting for. He stands, scans the horizon, he sees his dove, returning home to him. The dove is returning to its resting place. (Now that’s a sermon right there). Noah has compassion for this little white dove, he puts out his hand for it to rest on and gently draws it in. He gently kisses its beak and strokes the dove with compassion. He says, Welcome Home. He takes the dove and puts it back into its nest to rest, the dove sleeps, it is safe again inside his home the ark. Several days later, Noah sends the dove to scout for dry land and this time the dove comes back with an olive branch on its beak “symbolic of the “Oil of the Holy Spirit yet to come.” For the last time he releases the dove and the dove had no need to return to the ark, it had found a home on land. (Genesis 8:8-12). In the New Testament, the Bible states that the Spirit of God descended on Jesus Christ like a DOVE after he was baptized. To read this story we will need to fast forward four thousand years and see John the Baptist baptizing his followers when he looked up and sees Jesus walking towards Him and he shouted out, Behold the Lamb of God...” When he baptized Jesus, The Dove descended from heaven and rested upon Jesus. Then the Voice of God said,This is My Son hear you Him. God has said, This is My Chosen One; listen to Him and follow His teachings! He is the Messiah, He is the Son of God, for I am Him! The Dove is the representation of the Holy Spirit, The Holy Spirit gives Gods stamp of approval to man saying, I AM here right now! Let me find rest in you for my head. (Authority.) ( A special note) Most birds hover in the air, their wing tips point toward the back, in the direction of their tail feathers. On a dove, however, the wing tips point toward the head. This is unique when we consider how the anointing oil was poured upon the heads of the Kings and priests in Israel. The oil was poured from one ear, across the front of the head, to the other ear. It was poured in the form of a Hebrew letter kuf, whose shape is similar to a dove’s wings when it is hovering and its wings are opened. Just as the oil descended upon the heads of priests, the Holy Spirit manifested as a dove at Christ’s baptism and descended upon His head. (Charismamagazine) His OIL will give you God’s authority and power. He said, I will come and rest inside your body of clay. (Read Luke 9:35). God’s Holy Spirit is His anointing and power and authority that Now rest ON and INSIDE Jesus (He is the ARK). Matthew 3: 16-17 An Evangelist named Leonard Ravenhill noted that there, are nine main feathers on the left and right wings of the dove. He pointed out that there are also nine gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:7-10) and nine fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). There are also five main tail feathers on a dove, which can represent the fivefold ministry gifts of apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists and teachers (Eph. 4:11). The tail feathers of a dove are like the rudder of a ship—they assist in balance and direction in flight, just as the fivefold ministry gifts in the church bring balance to the body of Christ. ((Charismamagazine) Come Dove, Come Holy Spirit and REST in me! Noah also sent out a raven a few times before he sends the dove and apparently on the final time the raven never returned. A raven can eat carrion and would feed off dead animals in the water. The raven found his home among the dead and he was satisfied with dead meat. The raven represents Satan, he comes to your place of rest to steal your peace, and joy. He comes to kill or crush your hope and to destroy your soul and body. He loves to feast on dead meat. “BUT JESUS!” Hes here right NOW in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness. (John 10:10). I Declare I will follow the Dove. I Declare I will cherish and host His presence jealously. I Declare l will listen to His voice and make room in my heart for the Dove presence. I Declare I will stop and tell him often with my worship. Jesus I love You.’ After all God chose me to become His resting place. His Spirit is welcome. I Declare I will be an awesome host to His Presence. Welcome home Holy Dove. People listen, God is REAL, and the devil aint jokin’ or messin,’ he hates you! He wants dead meat! Please do not give him what he wants, Look to the DOVE! He brings life everyday to the body and feeds it with fresh bread, fresh meat, sweet honey and new wine.
