Wednesday/Holiday Coastal Storm An Atlantic coastal storm will spread rain, snow and some wind up the eastern Seaboard Wednesday and the event will last into Thursday in northern locations. precipitation will spread rapidly up the East Coast from GA/FL Tuesday night to new England Wednesday... Mainly rain along the coast... but snow in higher Appalachians from NC to VA... farther north, the rain/snow demarcation could be just inland from the immediate coast (north and west of the major metro areas)... Models still differ on the exact track of this storm (adds some uncertainty) to the rain/snow amount details this far out)... Even for major cities... the rain could turn to snow before ending Wednesday night... Snow could linger into Thursday over parts of northern New England and snow showers downwind of the Gt. lakes...... Significant snow amounts are possible (especially inland areas of the Northeast) where precipitation is all snow throughout the event... These areas could include... parts of northeast PA/eastern NY and interior and northern New England) . exact details should become more clear over time... In any event... this storm will be very disruptive to highway and air travel (busy day in the best conditions) .. Snow showers are likely PM/evening Wednesday in the southern Appalachians (perhaps down to northern GA) on the back side of this storm as cold air moves in...
