Wednesday at Siempre was a classic visit from start to finish - TopicsExpress

Wednesday at Siempre was a classic visit from start to finish beginning with Nacho Linda loving a whole new generation of Siempres kids in her own special way. Linda also brought along her friend Sharon, for a first time visit. Sharons been donating LeapFrog educational toys, games, books, etc... to Siempres kids for years and was lovingly ready to begin restoring the household. The kids went nuts! Tom and Ellen Buckingham were gracious to not only drive their truck down for the day, haul all of the donated items we had plus half the bed filled with brand new plastic boxes with lids to replace the citrus boxes thatve been serving as the kids personal storage for everything from what clothes we have for them to tooth brush, etc... no closets at Siempre. Ellen, a retired elementary school teacher, quickly gathered the children in the dining hall, handed out markers and stickers, and led them in each one personalizing the box that essentially acts as their dresser and closet. The kids loved it. You can see some of the results as they decided to take a nacho break halfway through the work. LifeHouse@Siempre continues to be a blessing with the afterschool homework program. Walking in I had the opportunity to watch as Claudia, our teacher, helped Christopher finish up his Science Project on the solar system. Claudia and I talked a bit about that mornings incredible landing on the comet - and Christopher showed me that hed included a comet in his model of our Solar System. So fun! Thats Sarahi, Siempres only 16 year old, in blue. In so short a time shes proven herself to be a treasure in the household. Shes a great student, fun to be around with a terrific personality and shes quick to help out with anything and lovingly spends time with all the children. What a blessing. Spending a sunny, joyous afternoon with the kids its easy to forget that each of them come to us because of devastating loss and heartbreak. All of our staff continue to do an amazing job of loving and lifting up the needs of each child while working tirelessly to keep the household moving forward. Please keep them all in your prayers. Reminders of the loss and love come to us when we least expect them. Andrew and Melissa, missionaries to Siempre, whove taken on the challenge of putting Beginnings@Siempre back on her feet - an overwhelming task - received word this week that the first of the second generation of babies into Beginnings has already been adopted out and that soon her forever family will be coming to get her. God is too good. Though abandoned into our arms without a name - Saras been the perfect baby that anyone whos held her once would want to adopt - and everyone has expressed that desire. Now shes going to her new family where shell never remember her time with us or know how much we loved or cared for her. Our prayers of Thanksgiving go with her as well as her new family. Thanks God for letting us know and love her. Shes reminded me so much of little Grace - the very first baby ever in Beginnings. So many more need to be rescued. No child deserves to be cast aside without even a shot at life. Because of so many of you Saras been giving a chance at hope, love and the promise of a wonderful future. Thanks so very much. A life changed. Siempres kids need your support - in prayer, love, visits and finances - so that they can continue to have the promise of a future and a hope. Go to the donate page at siemprekids.org and commit to share your life with our work and these children - whether it be great or small - as little as $25- a month can make a profound difference in the life of a child. Look at your calendar for 2015 and schedule a visit to Siempre. Talking with leaders from a church yesterday whore brainstorming ways to bring a workshop or conference to Siempre in the year to come. Think of all we can do together... Dream a Great Big Life Changing Dream and then come and put it into action at Siempre. Memorial Day Weekend, 2015, were building our second home for teens at Siempre. The pad and plumbing are already in and waiting for us. Join us for 3 days of amazing change together. Want to take your own work group? Weve got tons (litterally) of concrete work to do - we can set you up. Want to do a missions trip? We can help you serve the poor who live and work around the dumps of Tijuana. We can share the heart of the city with you. We can take you on a wild night to dinner at the taco carts! Want to build a house for a family without one? We can make it happen! Want to build a church? We know a community thats without, in desperate poverty, and wants one. God has hit the reset button at Siempre Para Los Ninos and the opportunities are beyond the grasp of our understanding! We want you, your family, your church, your hopes and dreams to play an important part in the restoration and reformation of Siempre, the children whove found a home there and the extended communities we serve. God has been so very good and we want to honor that in everything we say and do. Siempres kids are learning to pray. Most of them are so very young. We ate fish tacos with the kids Wednesday evening and smiled in celebration and one of the youngest children led the entire group in a simple prayer with a HUGE smile on his face followed by applause from around the room. One of my simple goals is for each child to have someone special to pray for... maybe you... someone who becomes part of their lives for the big events as they grow... someone wholl let them keep their picture next to their bed and pray for the very best in their lives. Someone more than a sponsor but a friend. We desperately need each of you to support the work of Siempre - without you all those smiles would be gone, those big hopes and dreams dashed, that forever family for Sara? Who knows what might have happened... So many have liked Siempres fb page. Some follow our work together with great interest and some of you give faithfully to help it grow. We need all of it. But the children need to learn how to build healthy, lifelong friendships - the kind that dont cut and run but the kind who believe in the bigger picture and have given themselves to it completely. Will you be one of those friends. We all need someone to pray for, love and encourage. That can be you. That can be each of Siempres kids as they learn how to lift up the needs of others. If youve read all of this. Thank you. I love the work of Siempre and believe in it with my whole heart. I could write about the great need and our small part in Gods solution for hours... as we approach Thanksgiving know that Im incredibly thankful for each of you. My prayer is that God blesses you in unexpected ways as we serve Him and that our eyes are fully opened to the wonder of today and the opportunity it holds. siempre, Eric
