Weekly updates from local sports teams! FCHS Volleyball Tryouts Elkhorn Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls are invited to try out for the Franklin County High School volleyball team at 4 p.m. today in the FCHS gym. FCHS Boys Basketball The FCHS boys basketball booster club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Franklin County High School gym. For more information call 502-545-0397. Franklin Co. Softball Ky. River Poker Run The 12th Annual River Run will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27th, at River View Park as a fundraiser for the Franklin County Lady Flyers softball team and WeWannaPlay, Inc. Pre-registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Cost per participant is $75, which pays for one entry, two meal tickets and a T-shirt. There can be more than one entry per boat. Around 80-100 participants will compete in the poker run, which hands each team a card at its five different stops. All cards will be tallied and the best hand wins, followed by dinner at Mulholland Beach from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, contact Lisa Wiard at 502-545-1907 or Jon Wiard at 502-330-1298. Elkhorn Middle Cross Country Elkhorn Middle School cross country will begin practicing 6:30 p.m. July 29th at Hancock Pavilion in Lakeview Park. Any students from Hearn, Peaks Mill and Elkhorn elementary schools or EMS are eligible. Athletes must have a current KHSAA sports physical to participate. For more information email ElkhornCC@gmail. GOLF The Chenault & Hoge Junior City Championships will be played July 30 at Juniper Hill Golf Course. The entry fee is $10. For more information call the Juniper Hill pro shop at 502-875-8559. FCHS Cheer Camp The Franklin County cheerleading squad is hosting its Flyer Cheer Camp July 31-Aug. 2 at the Peaks Mill Elementary School Gym. The camp is from 8 a.m. to noon each day. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 12:30 p.m. Lunch and a morning snack are provided daily. The cheer camp is staffed with current members of the FCHS cheer squad and coaching staff. Every camper will learn jumps, cheers and basic motions. Parents, family and friends are invited to attend a closing program and performance where campers will get their own FCHS Flyer Cheer Camp shirt. Alumni Soccer Game Franklin County, Frankfort High and Western Hills alumni soccer game is scheduled for Saturday, August 10th. The specific time and details are still being determined.
