Welcome back to the fall scheduling disasters that occur due to the start of school. This is the time of year that really is a great time to teach organizational skills to the kids. I would recommend getting them a calendar of their own for "fun" activities with friends and family. Appointments such as trips, tutoring, music lessons, games and doctor visits should be included. Plus, it is a must to have an assignment book. Many of the schools provide their own but if this is not the case with your student, there are nice, colorful and fun books that are easy to carry. I would recommend having a name or two of fellow students in that book for after school contacts. If class is missed for some reason, it would helpful to be able to call a classmate to get the homework for the evening.
