Welcome to Feed Jacksonville’s Kids 2014-2015, the campaign for feeding all 1,700 food insecure Jacksonville, FL kids during 2014-2015 weekends and school breaks. To donate securely, please visit indiegogo/projects/feed-jacksonville-kids-2014-2015. Each $1 donated provides three meals! Summary Our dream is to ensure 100% of Jacksonville’s food insecure children living in poverty receive weekend meals during the 2014-2015 school year. The Food Bank of North Florida graciously offers the Backpack Program, which sends children home each Friday with a bag of food to provide meals for the child and other members of the family. But even after generous corporate and private sponsorships, the Program needs $170,000 to feed the remaining 1,700 children who are going without due to a lack of necessary funding. That’s where we can join together to make sure zero children in Jacksonville go for days without food in their stomachs. What We Need --We need $170,000 because, thanks to The Food Bank of North Florida’s Backpack Program, it only takes $100 to supply a bag of food for one child (and their family) for the weekends during the 42-week school year. The Program provides meals during weekends as well as vacation breaks, multiplying each dollar donated through relationships with large food suppliers like ConAgra and retail partners like Wal-Mart, Winn-Dixie, Publix, BJs and Target. --If we do not reach our goal of $170,000 by the end of this campaign (the first day of school: 8/18/2014), your generous donations will go to The Food Bank of North Florida’s Backpack Program to get the Program’s 1,700-child deficit funded for the beginning of the school year, and we will begin a new campaign to fund the remaining deficit. The Impact Your contributions will bridge the gap in providing nutritious food outside of the school week when food resources are not readily available, such as weekends and on vacation breaks. (The Backpack Program helps feed children who live in poverty and are already receiving reduced-fee or free meals during the school week.) Other Ways You Can Help If you cannot support this campaign financially, we ask for support through spreading the word out about this campaign.
