Welcome to Paradise BUTTONS!!!!!! I am normally pretty well reserved at bird shows and expos. Today however, I was an emotional wreck. I usually try not to stop and look at the birds, especially the babies because it hurts my heart to think of what fate could await them if they are in the wrong hands...... Today I felt a pull at a booth where I would never stop. A booth of nest boxes...... There was this little white thing, crouched down in a cage no bigger than 18 square. Dirty water, crap food and big black soulful eyes full of fear and loss....... Eyes that looked at me all the way down to my soul and beyond..... Begging, pleading me to get him out of his hell. Charlies eyes..... I knew something had to be done, but all I could do was stand there and stare with tears streaming down my face.......... A big shout out and thank you to Sally Peters, Elissa Long, and Sheila Myers Long for not allowing me to completely fall apart. All I knew is that little bundle of feathers was counting on us to save him. I dont know his entire story yet, but do know he was wild caught and has been passed around to several people in the last few months. He is fearful, for good reason I am sure....... He is safe tonight at BOPS. He ate and ate and ate....... He, for the first time since I saw him, showed his appreciation by raising his crest. He knows...... Thanks again for my friends that helped me rescue this precious soul. I would have been lost without you. Thanks to those that have and will donate to get this little boy the help he needs to be free from his painful past. Thank you.
