Welcome to Thursday with WQXR. Lets start with this evening, when, at 8 oclock, David Dubal continues his look at Tchaikovskys piano music on Reflections from the Keyboard. At 9 tonight, Alan Gilbert conducts the New York Philharmonic in Bachs Mass in B Minor. The soloists are Dorothea Röschmann, Anne Sophie von Otter, Steve Davislim, and Eric Owens. Not a bad group. Now, back to this morning: a terrific work for string quartet and clarinet by Meyerbeer; Mozarts Ave verum corpus; Holsts Jupiter; Beethovens Leonore Overture No. 2; well kick up some dust with Ferde Grofes On the Trail, from his Grand Canyon Suite; Rostropovich plays a Haydn concerto; The New York Phil brass guys play some ragtime; your morning Bach comes from The Well-Tempered Keyboard and pianist Till Fellner; and we have some bonus Bach from the St. Matthew Passion. The music is already playing at 105.9 FM, WQXR.org, and on your phone with the WQXR app. Turn it on and brighten up your Thursday. Thanks for listening!
