Well, CRAP! I swear, if I had a 5th of whisky Id drink the whole damned thing in one sitting. Ive been having problems with the little red pickup for a few weeks now. First the battery started going out, so I went and got a new battery. And the truck ran fine. Then, about a week later it started running rough. I thought it was the plugs, so I bought new plugs and wires. Nice easy fix, right? Well, not so much. I wasnt able to get the plugs out, the are in too tight. And I cant change the wires because of how things are put together on the engine. So that was $35 wasted. Then I did some research and decided that, due to the way it was running, the PCV and EGR valves needed to be changed as well as the controller for the EGR. So I went to NAPA and ordered the parts. I only had money to pay for the PCV valve, but they offered to order all 3 parts and I could pick up the PCV valve today and the rest on the first when I get paid. Picked up the PCV valve and installed it today and, joy of joys, the truck ran a little smoother, but it still needs the EGR and controller replaced. OK, no sweat, I can do that on the first. Went to the store and got toilet paper and enough food to carry me until the first and when I went to come home, the truck wont start. So Im stranded. But, fortunately, Im only a couple blocks from Les Schwab, where I got the battery and they came over and gave me a jump. Truck started right up. I drive to Les Schwab and they check out the battery. Nothing wrong with it and its got a full charge, but it still wont start. So the guy goes out and tries popping the clutch in and out and gets it started. I ask him to show me what he did, so he shuts the truck off and then it wouldnt start. He calls another guy over and between the three of us, we get it compression started and I was able to drive it home. So here I sit, stranded, but at least Im at home. And thank all the gods I have a spare in the big Chevy, which is up in Mulino, but at least I have it. So, after the first Ill have to find a way to get up there and get it so I have wheels again. Or rather, wheels that run.... It only gets 10 MPG, but thats all the little truck has been getting for the past couple of weeks, so Ive been getting used to budgeting for that. Im pretty sure that its the starter thats out on the little red truck now. So thats how my days gone... >_
