Well, Day 3 of retirement, Im now a GOAT RESCURER. Are they just seeking me out????? Me and Tia were coming from town on Hwy 96, minding our own business when this little goat caught my eye. Something was just odd about the way he was standing, and then I noticed the hoof wedged between two small trees. Well you know me!! Jim Cathy to the rescue!!! I do a U turn and haul butt back, calling for backup from Kim Bennett Mattox by phone since she lives directly across the road. She doesnt answer, so Ive got to be a law-breaker by myself. Entering gated LOCKED property, TRESPASSING!!! I am afraid for Tia to go with me since there were chickens running everywhere and also two donkeys in with the goats and they are suppose to HATE dogs, so I could see this possibly being a train wreck waiting to happen. So I tie TIa to the bumper of the truck (too hot to leave her inside), and squeeze thru the opening in the locked gate and run to the back of the road to get in where the goat is. All the animals are bellowing, as if to tell me to hurry!! I had to work to get that leg out, but Im sad to say, the little billy had already broken it trying to get it loose. It was pretty swollen. I have no idea who owns that land as there is no houses or anyone living on that property. Kim, if you know who they are you might want to alert them. If I could have gotten him in the truck I would have brought him home with me and tried to split the leg. But I was afraid goat stealing might be a hangable offense. I didnt feel like going to jail today! ;-(
