Well I did the Walker marathon yesterday and after a day to reflect and enjoy life my run was still bad. Perfect weather at start, 47 degrees and maybe around 57 at finish. The first ten miles was right on pace for what I was shooting for, 8 minutes a mile. Knew the next ten miles would be slow with the North Country Trail but as soon as I hit it my knee starting giving me trouble into my hip and lower back. Average close to 13 for this ten miles. SLOW. Lots of walking. Once mile 20 came we were back on roads and the knee starting feeling better but the drive was gone. Hit the last 6 around 9 per mile. I think I ran faster during our T and A group runs but I did have April Cole and Dan LaPlante to impress versus worthless strangers. Couple of things about the Walker Marathon to share. 1. the race is low key. It has been but is seems like it is getting more so. 2. The north Country Trail is tough to run on because it is always a cant and has lots of tiny bumps. 3. The gravel roads that we ran on were more scenic then the trail itself. On a postive note it was a great week-end with my daughter, Faith who is starting her running comeback. She ran the 10k with her Dad giving her a goal of hour and she hit one hour and one minute. She was happy!
