Well, I didnt expect this to happen, but I watched a video that explains sample rates and bit depth and have concluded that 44.1k/16bit really does make the most sense for audio reproduction. It really does come down to math and, though I wish it were more true, anything outside of the audible hearing range would only have a negligible impact if any at all on a listener. I feel I have to publicly admit that my fascination with inaudibles and hi-res and even my cherished PONO really were just me desperately hoping for some kind of cultural shift thats not likely to happen in my lifetime. So, correcting course here and putting down the torch.....onward.
