Well. I dont mind admitting that while I know Ive more than most people in this world, Ive had one hell of a craptastic week. Actually, pretty awful. I woke up this morning and seriously considered staying home all day and hiding from the world. But... It is my birthday and I knew if I didnt go in, my kids would be mad. OK, Sofia would be FURIOUS and would likely come to physically drag me out of my house anyway. So I went in to work. And Ill be darned if those kids and my colleagues didnt start to turn my day around. Thanks to Karen Wysocky for the brownies and card--the first thing I saw when I walked into my office. Thanks to Hazel Benton for the handmade card with our super cute Fiddler photo in it (I loved the Happy Birthday! I made you a card! as soon as I got out of my car). Thanks to H Robert Dittmer for the owl card (and the sneaky owl ornament!), for playing your traditional trumpet birthday on one knee for me and for coming all the way in to WBHS to visit. Thanks to all six of my admins for signing a birthday card (and thanks to the five cool ones for making corny music puns--Id sing to you, but I was in band). Thanks to Sofia for the cake (glad we didnt have to use a reed knife to slice it this year!) and for always having my back--best Lil Sis I could ask for. Thanks to the five Symphonic Band kids who learned Happy Birthday by ear during a study hall and then sneak-attack played it for me. Thanks to Terri Stollberg-Schwartz for being a birthday cheerleader with her persevering joy for life. Thanks to Miranda for the hand drawn Eric Whitacre/Jan Terri card. Thanks to Andrea MacFarlane Clark for your enduring and supportive friendship--you are my ground. My dad called (and hes feeling better, which is the best birthday present I could ask for). My mom called. My really awesome, funny and sharp-as-a-tack 90+ year old grandma called and sang happy birthday to me (I will always cherish that memory--I love her so much). Over 200 of you took the time to send a message or write on my wall today. Wow. That is overwhelming; I am so fortunate. So, now Im writing with tears of gratitude instead of the other reasons. Thanks everyone. You cant know how much I appreciate you, especially this week. Thank you for turning my day (which I thought was going to be an awful birthday) around with your love. I am ever grateful and blessed.
