Well, I may as well admit it. Yesterday I passed the state exams, so in a week I will probably become an officially licensed agent of Life and Health & Accident insurance in the state of North Carolina. I still have to go through much more studying and application with and about various companies. And a sort of apprenticeship. I told you this before. Ill was changing occupations a few weeks ago, but was demur about what it was. Im not anymore. My first love is education. But I got muture and more sick of unemployment and the bullshit that goes into applying for educational jobs. One morning, a guy called me from this company and asked me about the Obamacare feeler I had put out, because I havent been with proper health insurance for three years or so. I mentioned I hadnt, because I havent had any earned income and I didnt have to. He mentioned that because of Obamare, they are really looking for new agents. I thought, what the hell? Lets see what this is. Eventually. I thought--job. Then I thought, as Bill Boggs reminded me later, I would be helping people and I have no plans of breaking the law. So, I begin on my quest as an insurance agent, and if all goes well, I may actually pay off my debt. But I will never miss the classroom. I still havent heard about insurance conventions, but they have to have them, so maybe there is a chance there. Ive also in these very few months have gathered enough material for a decent stand up act.
