Well....I received a call from a customer today who was scheduled to have his electricity shut off for non-payment. He wanted to get an extension to pay, but was not eligible & he wanted to know why he couldnt get an extension. I let him know that we dont offer extensions to pay anymore if youre scheduled for disconnection. Well....the entire time he was on the phone, his girlfriend was in the background running her mouth to the point where out of the blue....this customer said...I guess we cant get an extension because our skin isnt Black --Were not NIGGERS! He continued on by saying, I bet if we were black & on welfare theyd help us, but because were white & we work, we cant get a break. I said....Wow....Really??? He said ...Yes, really! Now yall know my flesh wanted to make him feel even more stupid than he already was, but I wasnt going to risk my job over an ignoramus like that! Im not gonna lie tho...I did want to lay into him, but it caught me off guard & I was like....Does he realize hes speaking to a black woman??? Does he even care??? Well after I ended the call, it just mad me kinda sad that in 2014, almost 2015, that there is still this kind of ignorance & hatred in the world. The phone call disturbed me a little & then I just prayed for his soul. So I guess it is a black persons fault or a NIGGERS fault that he didnt pay his bill??? Smh! But yet he should get a break for that because hes white & has a job??! If I didnt find this to be so sad, I just may have laughed at him on the phone. But Im sure he realized before we got off the phone--that he was speaking to a black woman who didnt have to help him at all; because his tone changed considerably. I thank God for my inner peace, because if I didnt have it, I might be just as confused & hateful as this poor soul. Smh! Well...back to work! Lord help! Have a wonderful evening everyone!
