Well, I received my last severance check on Friday. So Folks, tomorrow would have been the day I would apply for unemployment. But thats not going to happen. Why not? Because tomorrow is the day I will start my new job. I will be working with Novant Health Infectious Disease Specialists in Charlotte. It is a new practice and our facility is not completely upfitted yet, so for a couple months we will practice from the Randolph Rd Urgent Care facility. I will assist the drs in caring for mostly HIV and Aids patients, as well as Osteomyelitis, MRSA, etc. It should be very gratifying to bring a better quality of life to those who have been suffering both physically and emotionally from serious infectious diseases. I am actually the only staff they will have until their office opens, so I think its a fair assumption I will be quite actively engaged at every given moment. Although tomorrow is my first day, I will not actually have training per se, but will jump right in with doing my job. Since triage and assisting in Internal Medicine was my last endeavor, I am so grateful for the invaluable knowledge and skills it helped me acquire. I think I am prepared to meet this head on, and thats a very good thing, because head on is how it will be. I have been boning up on HIV, Viral Loads, CD4 counts, antiretroviral meds, etc. Wish me luck on my newest adventure!
