Well I will be on duty till late tonight so no chance I will get to say this at midnight..........it seems like yesterday and not 28 years ago that I sat in a hospital room while my wife struggled with contractions, hungry and thirsty after not eating for five hours. I myself kinda tired sitting by her bed there eating my Subway sandwich, drinking my Diet Coke and eating a Snickers bar. Waiting for my daughter to decide she was ready. I can still remember it....watching the fetal monitor and warning my wife of impending contractions ....Oh man this one is gonna be a doozie . I remember hearing a woman down the hall screaming like she was giving birth to a Maytag refridgerator. I kept saying to my wife as she tried to concentrate..Man can you hear that ?!!! She is ....I mean wow. So as the minutes passed I struggled myself ya know. The sandwich started to kind of fall apart and man I hate that. Of course it is hard to enjoy a nice sandwich when the old ball and chain is constantly bugging you with Can I have ice chips Will you wipe my forehead with a wet towel geeezzz me me me me. But hey I got through it. Into the delivery room we went and a short time later there she was. It still was all about my wife as people kept asking her what she needed.....no concern for me as I was dying for a Ring Ding. But you think they asked me if they could get anything for me ? Hell no ! Child birth is hell on a man. I dont think my body has ever recovered to be honest. Happy Birthday Mellissa. I love you honey and I wnat nothing but the best for you your entire life. I will try my best to be here as long as I can to make you smile. I promise. :)
