Well Ive been a customer of Navient (I know this is Sallie Maes new name) for one whole month and theyve already done me dirty. I was never notified that my payment amount would be changed unless I renewed my current payment plan. The way I figured out that my payment was increasing was because I logged on to their website to check out how it was set up (since I am a new customer). I noticed that my payment due was now $1283.09, up from the $424.41 that Ive been paying all year. Upon investigation it was determined that I was never contacted to renew this payment plan. The screen told me that I needed to apply immediately to have it revert this months payment back to the previous plan. So, that very day, November 9, I applied for renewal of my payment plan and uploaded the correct documents. I received a confirmation email that my account would be updated within 7 business days. Well, today was day 7 and nothing had changed so I called. First, I was told that I never submitted anything. Then, when I told the rep that I had a confirmation email she dug a little further and told me that she had received it, but that it hadnt been processed yet. I asked her to please stop the auto-debit payment that was set up to come out on Nov 20th, and I was told Navient had already started the process to extract funds - 2 days earlier than authorized!!!!!!! I was then told that once the extraction process is started it cant be reversed, and nothing could be done. So, now Navient will be taking out approximately $800 more than normal because, 1) I wasnt properly notified that I needed to renew my payment plan, 2) They didnt process my paperwork within the 7 business days that they stated, and 3) They auto-debited my checking account 2 days earlier than the authorized payment date. (BTW, my bank cant put a stop payment on it because they need a 3-day lead). Their new slogan should be, Were still as slimy as Sallie Mae, just under a shiny new company name.
