Evening Just so everyone is clear this is how I was proposing that the rules for the 2015/16 season would be written. This is based what was discussed at the Committee meeting on Thursday. This is just the rig / fish care rules not all rules. Fish care/ Rig safety The Committee place a high priority on fish care and fish safety – the new fish are growing well and in excellent condition – and everything possible should be done to maintain this. In addition to this the lake itself is snaggy, weedy and, for much of the year, has a high coverage of pond lillies which make rig safety even more important. The Committee would ask that all members use common sense when fishing the lake and at all times ensure that all rigs are used in such a way to minimise the possibility of problems such as fish being tethered. We would also request that members regularly check their rigs to ensure that they function as intended – for example that beads pass over knots or that lead clips release as intended. If members are unsure as to the safety of their rigs they should speak to bailiffs, committee members or their fellow anglers. The Committee does not wish to unnecessarily restrict how members fish but the following specific rules are in place to ensure fish safety. 1. Landing nets to have minimum of 36” arms for carp fishing purposes 2. Unhooking mats to be used at all times. Unhooking mats should be either high sided mats or ‘cradle’ style. Due to the risk of fish slipping off no flat unhooking mats to be used. 3. All lead systems must be set up to ensure that the lead is dropped on the take. This means the use of ‘Freefall’ style leadclips, ‘drop off’ in line set ups or helicopter rig lead release systems. 4. No braided mainline 5. Chod rig systems should use Korda ‘No Trace’ beads or equivalent. Large eyed swivels should be used on leader materials. 6. Leadcore, tubing or other leaders to be maximum length of 1 metre. 7. No 360° rigs. 8. No bent hook rigs. 9. Only one hook per rig. 10. Mainline to be min 15lb, max 18lb.
