Well, Leonard Cohen is back already from the North Cambs Curling - TopicsExpress

Well, Leonard Cohen is back already from the North Cambs Curling Confederation Cup. What I didn’t know was that he hadn’t bothered getting tickets for the venue (Whittlesey Parish Hall, next to the hotel). He just thought he’d turn up and wing it. Apparently, he simply sidled up to a security guard standing outside the hotel and said, “Hello, I’m the famous Leonard Cohen. You may recognise me from radio and television, singing such songs as Bird on a Wire, Suzanne, and that one about Manhattan, the name of which temporarily escapes me. Can I come in, please, and watch the curling competition?” But, of course, without his guitar, the security guard didn’t recognise him and sent him packing. Then he tried to prove his identity by singing – “Liiiiiiike a biiiiiird onna why-eee-are, like a drunk inna midniiiiiiight choiiiiiiiirrrrr, ah hev triiiiiiiied, in mah way, t’be freeeeeee...” But the security guard said he’d heard better on that Stars In Your Eyes programme with Matthew Kelly and Leonard had better push off before the very lovely Eve Muirhead, Scottish Curling Superstar and VIP guest of the North Cambs Curling Confederation Cup Committee, arrived. They wouldn’t want vagabonds like Leonard putting her off her stride and distracting her while she wielded her broom. This information, not unnaturally, peeved Leonard somewhat, and he bopped the security guard flat on the nose before making good his escape over the parish hall wall. “They’ll remember me well – at the Whittlesey hotel,” he said grumpily, upon arriving back. So now he’s home, and is currently eating his way through a multi-pack of Monster Munch in the lounge while simultaneously listening to the curling commentary on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire AND updating his Eve Muirhead Scrapbook with felt-tip pens and Pritt-Stick. If he’s not careful, he’ll end up with glue all over his Monster Munch. https://youtube/watch?v=3YDb1mZxQRk
