Well, OK! At long, long last I have five proof copies in hand of my History of Jelm, Wyoming. $12 each, ($15 with postage) softbound 8.5 x 11, b&w interior) with the DVD of Man from Painted Post (filmed at Jelm in 1917 with Douglas Fairbanks - story of cattle rustlers tunneling the mountain!?) and let me know where to deliver them!! (Ill order more immediately.) It covers Woods Landing and old Jelm and the Big Laramie Valley in Wyoming from 1865 through 1930. Thanks for your interest and your patience! It HAS been a long and winding road! To order one, you may write me at 2900 S. Polk, Amarillo, Texas 79109. Preface: Pop and uncle B.R. spent the afternoon in Laramie, running errands. They had been to the hardware store, the lumberyard and the grocery store and the afternoon was beginning to fade. Yet Pop tarried, taking them from one diversion to another until sunset was upon them. B. R. didnt say anything, because he was just along for the ride and in no hurry. Finally, waving at my old boss, Doug Fotheringham, at his body shop by the railroad tracks, they climbed the viaduct, passed through West Laramie, and, following the route of many a horse drawn wagon in years gone by, cruised in modern luxury west along , past the Laramie Trap Club and around Seven Mile Curve toward Jelm Mountain, Woods Landing and home. An occasional flash of white evidenced the near constant presence of the same beautiful antelope which delighted and sustained the pioneers whose former homes lay beyond the mountain. As they slowly headed west, the silhouette of Jelm Mountain tinted mauve by the remnants of a sunset, the blue velvet sky seemed blanketed in a diamond-encrusted comforter. Now B. R. understood the delays. This, Pop told him, is the most beautiful sight on earth. Amen. Keith Jones
