Well, SMSers, Mimi is gone. But I refuse to think her legacy has - TopicsExpress

Well, SMSers, Mimi is gone. But I refuse to think her legacy has left this Earth. Over two years ago, I made a promise to my Poppo before he died that I would look after my beloved Mimi. In that time, we drove one another CRAZY, Mimi and I. Oh, my goodness, did we ever! That is evidenced by this blog. But I also think what is apparent is how much she and I absolutely loved each other. Every day. Inexplicably loved one another. Im so privileged and thankful to have had Mimi given to me in this life. As I rested by her side last night holding her hand as she took her last breath, I knew that life will never be the same for me (much like it hasnt been since my dad and Poppo have passed away). Another thing I am so, SO privileged and thankful for is my family. Certain families just know how to be good families and--Im going to brag here--but were a DAMN good one. Were a team; were a close-knit group who loves hard and laughs at way-too-inappropriate times...and its no wonder who we got that from... Although Mimi is gone at Christmastime, and that is seemingly harder than any other time of the year, its made easier with this family. Ive really lucked out. (CeCe, too!) And finally, I cant thank all of you, readers of SMS, enough for the kind words and shared laughter and tears youve brought by coming along for the ride with me, Mimi and CeCe. Not only are my memories of my grandma preserved, but the memories youve all shared with us, too! Theres no better gift than that! Love, Jake
