Well, actually, its not for the reasons the Darden folks cite - its because the food just isnt very good, or a good value. Restaurants that serve quality food at a reasonable price are thriving. Plenty of restaurants that serve quality food at a somewhat exorbitant price are doing well. Even many fast food places that serve at best mediocre food but at low prices enjoy stable business. If you cant succeed selling food, the real problem isnt that hard to figure out. Some times, the market says you dont get a free pass to success.
