Well, again I crept out of the safety of the sticks and headed off to the Big Smoke, (needed an eye test). How hard can that be? Well for me very!! For a start they have to be purple or I wont even look at them & because theyre varifocals they have to be quite deep so that narrows the selection right down. Poor wumman must have been thinking what have I done to be lumbered wi hur. Theres only 3 or 4 pairs fit the criteria so how does it take so long to choose? Eventually decided on frames & go to pay, (has to be paid on ordering), fair enough, nae problem. I quite confidently enter my pin number. Wrong pin, try again. I start to feel a little uneasy but try again. Wrong pin number, 2nd attempt. Last attempt. I can feel the eyes of the people waiting watching at me & feel a bubbling deep in my stomach. I said to the cashier Im sorry, I can feel myself starting to get hysterical as maniacal giggles are trying to get out of me. She told me not to worry, take my time & try again. Thank God for safety nets as I had the elusive number on my presence and the transaction went ahead but for what they cost I really wish the machine had went 3rd attempt failed, you are the weakest link. Passing a garage I decided to get petrol. I only went from the pump to the shop but when I got back to the car, no keys. I emptied all my pockets raked through the bag I was carrying, looked round about the car but nae joy. I retraced my steps scouring the ground up & down the aisle I was in & heres the cashier swinging my keys. Safe to say Im back in Lesleyland & now Im gonna take my wee hairy pal for a walk to chill out. Pity I have to go through it all again on 3rd September when I have to go & collect said glasses.
