Well, an eventful work weekend up at the farmhouse, and it had - TopicsExpress

Well, an eventful work weekend up at the farmhouse, and it had nothing do to with the amount of work I got done (none). Arrive to an inch of snow covering everything, and it still snowing. Seeing as though my work involved being on the roof doing some shingle repairs, and painting and caulking windows - that was all a writeoff. While I was off hiking around taking photos of the property in its early winter glory (and me in mine). Allez was running around through the snow in her own winter glory. Im guessing that the battery on her wireless fencing collar was dead, and she got well out of her usual 100ft radius. I couldnt find her, and she wasnt responding to my calls. Finally she returned, and was soaking wet and shivering. While drying her off I started to notice large amounts of blood on the floor. I could see several deep wounds on her side, and she wouldnt let me see her belly. I got her in the car and started driving to the closest vet, as Eva called ahead from Ajax. I got a call back that they wouldnt even take my hurt dog if I showed up on their doorstep because I wasnt a client. The nearest hospital was in Barrie. This angered me to the point of needing to return to the farmhouse to compose myself. By this time she had licked her wounds enough to stop bleeding. Her heart rate and temperament seemed normal, so I made the call to just return home to Ajax and the emergency vet there. We still arent sure what got her. Probably some animal fight down by the river. She has three really deep punctures on her side, a fourth smaller one, and her back paw nearly torn in half. Shes recovering now, sleeping lots today, and she even ate!
